You have something very precious. Will you help others to have it too? A Gift of Eyesight

Simply by reading this you are using one of the most precious gifts in life – your eyesight.

So just for a minute can I ask you to close your eyes and imagine what life would be like if you could never open them again.

Thank you, now please read on.

Losing your sight is one of the most frightening things that can happen to anyone. And it’s so much worse if you are already living in one of the poorest countries in the world and have no-one to turn to for medical help or assistance.

Helpless and frightened, many people who lose their sight become even more vulnerable to unemployment, starvation, disease and a lonely, lingering death.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. The simple fact is that many of the commonest eye problems such as cataracts and waterborne infections can actually be solved relatively easily with simple surgery or the right medications. Will you help provide this? Will you help restore one of the most precious and vital gifts in life to someone in urgent need?

With your help, Islamic Aid is committed to getting medicines, vaccinations and other medical help to the people in most need. But we also know that to really combat these problems we need to address them at their root cause.

A tube of eye cream to combat water-borne infections costs just £2.50. A gift of just £15 would provide six children with effective eye medication against river blindness. £25 would help screen 10 children for eyesight problems. £50 would pay for a cataract operation that could help someone see again. And £250 would help support the operation theatre for one week.

Please be as generous as you can. Your gift today will be more precious than you can ever imagine. Thank you so much.
